"Unmasked" - PANEL's 3rd Mid-Ohio-Con Pre-Party!

The PANEL collective presents their 3rd annual Unmasked Party, a free gathering that celebrates this year's Mid-Ohio-Con convention. The free party is open to all comic fans, pros, exhibitors, attendees, and friends and family.

When: Friday, October 3, 8 PM till midnight
Where: Underground at Barley's Brewing Company Ale House No. 1. Click for a map
Free admission, DJ, cash bar, free comics, and more...

And don't forget the Live Art Throwdown! Artists will do sketches on the spot, which will be auctioned on ebay, with proceeds donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and The Hero Initiative.

Welcome Melt magazine readers

If you heard about this site via the Brainbot, Jr. comic strip in Melt magazine, then welcome. My name is Dara, I'm a comic book writer, and Ferret Press is my self-publishing imprint. I'm also a founding member of PANEL, a Columbus-based writers/artists collective, which my partner-in-crime Tom Williams is also a member of. To date we have published 8 volumes of our Panel anthology, which you can preview alongside my solo projects in the Books section of this site. PANEL: Travel, vol. 8 of our anthology

The latest volume of our small press anthology is now available for sale. The Columbus, Ohio writers and artists collaborative known as Panel present PANEL: Travel, a 52-page comic with a stamped cover, in the size and shape of a passport, for a mere two dollars. Drop by the Books section for a preview.

Ferret Press and the writers and artists of the PANEL collective sponsored Unmasked, a free pre-Mid Ohio Con party on Friday, November 24, 2006. "The Underground" at Barley's Brewing Company Ale House No. 1 was the venue for this event, featuring free admission, free appetizers, and live music by the Poophouse Jug Band. A great time was had by all.

Comic Book Challenge and San Diego Con 2006

Dara was one of the 50 semi-finalists competing in the Comic Book Challenge contest, which took place in San Diego during the week of Comic-Con International. Check out his photos from both events, featuring celebrity judges, fans in costumes, and life-size Hot Wheels.

Ferret Press at Comfest 2006

After a year absence, we once again had a booth at the 34th annual Comfest in Columbus, Ohio. Comfest is the largest all-volunteer run community festival in the country, with 3 days of music from over 200 live bands on 6 stages. And it's all free! Click here to view pictures from Comfest 2006.

BigCityBlues comic and music CD

The BigCityBlues one-shot will premiere at the Mid-Ohio-Con at the end of November. The 48-page comic will be accompanied by BigCityBlues: Street Music , a music CD featuring 4 talented bands from the Columbus, Ohio rock scene: No Soul Jones , eightmmstar , The Randys , and Wigglepussy, Indiana . The CD will feature an hour of music on 15 tracks as unique and diverse as the stories appearing in the book.
